Bumble Bee Conservation

The Hub Management Committee have taken on board concerns about the threat to bees and would like to do everything possible to help by providing bee boxes around the Hub for over-wintering bees and bee-friendly planting to provide food for them.

We want everyone to know about bumblebees, their important role as pollinators of food crops and wildflowers, and the potential impact of their continuing declines.

Sadly though, many areas are now so devoid of the flowers best-loved by bees that they are struggling to find enough food to survive. Two species of bumblebee have already become extinct in the UK, simply because their habitats have been lost.
